The 2021 International Conference on Management Science and Big Data Application (ICMSBDA 2021) was successfully held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, from March 26 to 28. The conference was hosted by China Jiliang University, College of Humanities and Foreign Languages, and was jointly organized by the School of Economics and Management and Academic Exchange Information Center (AEIC). ICMSBDA 2021 has provided a platform for researchers, professionals, and other experts to present their research results in the fields of Management Science, Digitalization, Innovation and Big Data Application.
In line with this, Professor Nebojša Radojević from the Business School has delivered a keynote on the roles of big data in organizational innovation. Although information is reportedly going to be the oil of 21st century, with analytics being the figurative combustion engine, Professor Radojević has pointed out that big data plays a role much more complex than simply being a digital commodity. According to Professor Radojević, the mere availability of big data creates a new market for technological innovation, particularly in analytics and artificial intelligence. On the other hand, however, big data is one of technological resources that drive innovation in new or improved products, services, and especially business models. Concomitantly, big data promotes open innovation paradigm within firm networks and innovation ecosystems.
Facilitated by an excellent organization and pleasant setting, the conference featured a fruitful and inspiring atmosphere within which personal networks have been established and ideas on potential collaboration well beyond the conference were shared.
