On November 24th, Professor Eric Tsui, the Associate Director of the Behaviour and Knowledge Engineering (BAKE) Research Centre and the Senior Educational Development Officer in the Educational Development Centre at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, invited by Associate Professor Liu Gang gave our students a wonderful lecture by using Spatial metaverse platform. The topic of this lecture is Learning about Digital Twins in a Metaverse Environment.
The content of this lecture is rich and vivid. In the first section, Professor Eric Tsui explained to the students the basic techniques of digital twins, the benefits of using digital twins and its potential applications. Through the professor's meticulous introduction, the students gradually explored the mystery of digital twins in Industry 4.0. In the second section, Professor Eric Tsui and students experienced learning and collaboration in the metaverse environment through Spatial platform. Being immersive in the metaverse brings the students the ultimate novel experience with a high sense of participation and interaction in a virtual environment. In different metaverse scenarios, Professor Eric Tsui communicated with students to explore the characteristics and future possibilities of metaverse for education.
This lecture gave students a new understanding of digital twins and the metaverse. After the lecture, the students all felt that they gained a lot from the lecture because they felt that the lecture allowed them to broaden their minds and horizons, keep up with the pace of technological development, and inform them of the forefront of technological development. The lecture ended with warm applause.
