Corporate Executives Talk about the Talent Market and Career Planning

In the morning of December 4th, invited by Jack WOO, Associate Professor, several corporate executives talked freely with our third-year students about the talent market and career planning through Tencent Meeting. After the meeting, the students gave positive feedback that they benefited a lot, and they had more confidence in their future career development and blueprint.

           

Mr. Florian Weihar (Chief Technology Officer, Ruhlamat Group, Germany) shared Ruhlamat's business development in China, automation technology, intelligent equipment production, and software-based manufacturing using virtual reality digital twin technology. During the meeting, Mr. Florian Weihard emphasized the global delivery model from Suzhou, and hoped that our international business students would join Ruhlamat to accelerate the development of Ruhlamat's global business footprints through international trade and global perspective.

David Sai, (Managing Director, Head of Project Management at Cushman & Wakefield Real Estate Advisory China) shared Cushman & Wakefield's business in China, his personal growth experience, career plans and choices. During the meeting, Mr. David emphasized that newcomers need to find their own interests and passion, and ultimately achieve their own careers through continued learning and exploration in the enterprise. Through the experience of Mr. David, the students have a clearer understanding of how to choose between employment and postgraduate study.

Mr. Barry Ding (Partner, RUPRO Consulting) shared the major changes in the Chinese talent market in the past 10 years, the major factors in choosing a career, and how to land on a dream job. At the meeting, Mr. Barry Ding highlighted the major changes in workplace towards localization, intelligence and regionalization. Newcomers need to fully consider important elements such as personal interests, corporate culture, and industry development prospects in the process of choosing a job. Finally, Mr. Barry Ding also shared the opportunities and challenges of career development at home and abroad.

           

Mr. Dave Li (Partner, PwC China Tax & Business Advisory) shared PwC's audit and tax consulting services practice in China and PwC's career development plan. PwC's talent development programmes include the Leap Campus Club, the Internship Program, the LinkedIn Auditing and Taxation Master Programme, and the Graduate Program. During the meeting, Mr. Dave Li shared his career development experience from associate to partner, his suggestion on time allocation between work and professional qualification preparation as well as the importance and performance characteristics of smart newcomers in the workplace.

The conference was chaired by Jack WOO, Associate Professor, of our Business School. The students' active speech and interaction with the Corporate Executives made this event successful and highly inspiring.
