Faculty Introduction
PhD in Economics, Associate Professor. Nearly 10 years work experience in foreign enterprises, mainly engaged in revenue and cost accounting, financial analysis, project management and other related works. Good at report management, process optimization, accounting processing. Engaged in the research of logistics economics, economic efficiency and regional economy.
1. In 2020, our International Business will involve Accounting-related courses. Could you please introduce these courses? What are the main benefits it will bring to business students?
Lucy: Accounting focus on operation and profitability of the enterprises, which is a professional basic course for business related majors. It is a subject with strong applicability. It involves accounting principles, cost accounting, accounting and controlling and other related fields of financial accounting and management accounting. Accounting knowledge is very important in business field. In addition to recording daily business transactions and preparing financial statements, accountants usually participate in enterprise management activities such as quality management, profit analysis, cost control, tax strategy, etc. Although not all business undergraduates will become accountants, understanding basic accounting knowledge can help them deal with unavoidable accounting problems in their future career development.
2. We learned that you have many years of accounting experience in multinational companies. Would you please share some of your work experience with us? What do you think of the career prospects in Accounting?
Lucy: I have worked in a foreign company for many years. From my personal working experience, accounting related work is highly professional, so the accounting practitioners should have strong business ability and continuous learning ability. Accounting graduates have a wide range of employment, not only they will be engaged in accounting, capital, tax and other financial related works, but also they will be engaged in auditing, consulting, enterprise management and other work. In addition, graduates can go to an accounting firm and other service institutions specialized in financial related area.
3. Many students consider applying for ACCA or CPA, but they are hesitant about it. What is your suggestion?
Lucy: ACCA and CPA are professional accounting certifications with higher gold content. They are the key certifications to go to the big four, investment bank and other professional institutions. Even if you are engaged in enterprises, getting ACCA and CPA certifications will also be a great benefit to your future career. However, if you want to get the certification of ACCA and CPA in college, then you should balance your time among different subjects.
4. Many students want to get in touch with more news and professional knowledge about accounting. What kinds of books and information do you recommend?
Lucy: If you observe carefully, the news and information related to finance and accounting are almost everywhere. If you want to browse some websites related to accounting professional examinations, you can try China Accounting Network. If you want to see websites related to investment, you can try Cninfo, Oriental finance, etc. you can also pay attention to the WeChat official accounts of some Big Shots, which usually contain some interesting ideas.
5. What do you expect from the upcoming 2020 cohort students of SZTU Business School?
Lucy: In the next four years, it will be a new starting point for your dreams. I hope you can roam in the ocean of knowledge, seize the day and never lose the time.
