Affected by the coronavirus outbreak, the time of returning to school has been delayed. In order to respond to the national call of "no class without suspension", SZTU started online teaching on 5th March. Being into a network class, for the first time, what experience it will bring to our teacher? Dr. Ding, class teacher of Industrial Design (Design Economics) students, recorded her experience of three-week online teaching.
“Since the school issued the online teaching notice in February, Prof. Holger Haldenwang, dean of Business School, actively urged the teaching team to be familiar with the operation of network software. After continuous exploration and practice, Business School finally chose the online teaching platform.”
“I did not have much experience in online teaching before, in the three-day trial classes of first week, I got many problems such as broken network, the failure of voice and students interaction function, which made me suspect somewhat to the mode of online teaching, Meanwhile, the IT communication wechat group continuously provided training and guidance for teachers' online class test, thanks to their help, I gradually got familiar with the operation process of the platform. Formally stepping into the my "live broadcasting"without a bad start.”
“After two weeks of formal teaching, I gradually accumulated some online teaching skills. In view of the restrictions of network teaching conditions, higher request is put forward to my classes, I need to pay more efforts to the curriculum design, teaching plans, PPT production, as well as the teaching method. In order to increase the interest and interaction of the course of economics, and finance, I bring the weekly economic news to my class, guiding the students to develop economic sensitivity and learn the thinking of economics. As a teacher, I am very happy to feel the students' thirst for knowledge, the students' interaction in class is constantly enhanced, and the students' question consultation after class is increasing.”
“Although the "live broadcast" mode cuts off the opportunities of face-to-face communication between teachers and students, it could not cut off the feelings gradually cultivated between teachers and students. So I have the confidence to meet all the challenges. Of course, for the practical course of business negotiation, group discussion, scenario simulation and simulated negotiation are still limited by the online course model. Now I am looking forward to an early end of the outbreak, looking forward to the day when our students to have an reunion in the classroom of SZTU!”
