On October 11, Dr. Jack Woo and Dr. Meng Aiyun lead the students of Shenzhen Technology University Business School and College of New Materials and New Energies visited the BYD. With their questions and curiosity, students visited the production workshop and attentively learned the manufacturing process and business operations. At the same time, they had an in-depth and in-person ideas exchange with leaders and engineers from BYD.

Factory site visit at FinDream Battery System
FinDream Battery System R&D and manufacturing site was the first stop of our visit. We were really impressed by the innovation and technological prowess of BYD’s battery system as observed by ourselves. As the elevator slowly climbed up, we came into sight of BYD's battery workshop, where we witnessed the automatic lifting platform, and saw the precise maxing, coating and rolling process of various materials according to the “Bill of Materials” (BOM) and process costing method as we learned in our cost accounting subject. Engineers from FinDream and BYD patiently answered to each student’s questions. The journey in the production workshop was fruitful and enlightening. As time passed so fast, all the students were truly fascinated with the battery manufacturing process and technical know-how at FinDream.
Exhibition halls visit
Our next stop was BYD's Hexagon Building. After entering the exhibition hall, we first watched a video of BYD, in which the development concept of "technology leadership, grounded innovation" was once again proven through its various remarkable track records. Then, the staff was introduced on BYD's development history and milestones. BYD is growing steadily in both in business performance, global footprints and patents application.

Meet with Leadership
After the site and exhibition hall visits, Mr. Yan Shuqin, Mr. Zhang Jianbo, Ms. Xu Caixia and other five senior engineers from BYD and FinDream had an open and direct interaction with all the students. Mr. Yan introduced BYD's corporate philosophy, future development and technical roadmaps. In the open discussion forum, students actively asked questions based on their own experience and observations during the visit. Leadership from BYD and FinDream responded the questions professionally and enthusiastically. The atmosphere in the open discussion forum was active and warm.

The word that struck me most during my visit to BYD was "mission". At the leadership interaction meeting, Ms. Xu Caixia and other technical staff put forward the mission of FinDream, "let people use batteries without worry." I was impressed. To develop more excellent products or improve product performance, they ploughed deeply in the front line and forgot to eat and sleep. This is the spirit of craftsmanship! Coating, rolling, lamination, assembly... Walked into the FinDream production workshop, the production line is fully automated with smart information control and intelligent decision-making system. All the machines and people are at full capacity to meet market orders. Later, when we visit BYD’s exhibition hall, I was deeply captivated by BYD's development history, technical team and wall of fame (with more than 20,000 patents). In the leadership interaction meeting, the experts from BYD and FinDream also answered the questions raised by the professors and our students competently. Thanks to Professor Jack WOO and BYD Leadership for organizing this visit, which has made us learned a lot on the practical side of our course subjects, and truly appreciated the concept of “Applied Science” learning philosophy!
